RSS
It's Your Choice!
RSS - Getting the information of your choice ...
RSS ("Really Simple Syndication") is a convenient way to get the news and information that matters most to you quickly and easily, without having to search all over the web.
Most of us keep a mental list of our favourite websites - perhaps 10 to 15 destinations that we swing by every day. But usually only a few of them contain new stories that are worth reading immediately, so a habit of loading and scanning each of these sites daily can waste a lot of time.
Fortunately, surfing the web like this has become a thing of the past, thanks to RSS. This standard lets sites publish a simple listing of headlines and story summaries. Using a simple program called an RSS reader (also called "feed readers" or "RSS aggregators"), you can subscribe to different news feeds and rapidly sift through condensed news. When you find an item you like, you click the headline to open the web page containing the full story.
If you can't afford to miss out on the latest news, are having a hard time managing the deluge of information you receive via e-mail, or simply want a more convenient way to manage and control your online news and information, RSS feeds are the answer.
Now you can have all the latest headlines on topics you choose delivered to your desktop for free. You can even choose the source. When your reader displays a headline of interest, click the headline and you'll be whisked to the source website for the full story. With RSS you no longer have to visit your favourite websites to check for new updates - you simply open up your reader and see all the headlines from all your selected sources in a matter of seconds.
RSS makes keeping up with the information that matters to you easy.

Where can I get an RSS reader?
New RSS readers are being developed every day. "FeedReader" is the free, Bluesnight's RSS reader of choice that we are currently using.
When you've found the reader you like and you want to add an RSS feed to it, here's the general procedure:
1. Click on the icon of the RSS feed that interests you - for example, you'll find our blue and orange coloured "RSS" and "XML" icons (which indicates that this page is available via your RSS reader) at the bottom righthandside of each Bluesnight's web page. "XML" is the web language used to write and update the RSS feed.
2. Copy the URL of the page that opens when you click on the icons (for Bluesnight's Latest News, it's: http://www.bluesnights.co.uk/rss_feed.xml).
3. Open up your newsreader software and paste that URL into the appropriate place. For example, in the FeedReader software, click New and a window will open. Paste the RSS URL into the box.
4. The new feed will appear under "My Feeds" as "Bluesnights".
5. Click on any headline, and the story will appear in FeedReader's built-in browser in the lower right window of the application.
Download your own reader now and start exploring all that's available through RSS. Start by subscribing to: Bluesnight's own RSS feed now and you need never forget another gig date again!
So, what are you waiting for?!
